Bowler IPA: A taste of travel and adventure

When ale enthusiasts crave a more complex brew, they instinctively reach for a glass of Bowler IPA (India Pale Ale). This beer volcano never disappoints. A relative of the classic ale, it stands out with its pronounced bitterness, bold aroma, higher alcohol content, and richer body.

The history of IPA traces back to the colonial era in India, where British soldiers were supplied with ale. To ensure the beer survived the long sea journey without losing its quality, it was brewed with extra hops. This clever solution unexpectedly led to the creation of a new style. Initially known as "India Ale" or "Pale Ale as prepared for India," it was eventually shortened to "India Pale Ale" (IPA). The hop-forward ale quickly gained popularity not just among soldiers and colonists in India, but also back home in Britain. Upon returning from the colonies, the British continued to enjoy this stronger, more aromatic beer.

With the rise of craft brewing in the United States and beyond, IPA experienced a remarkable resurgence. Modern brewers now experiment with different hop varieties and hopping techniques, creating innovative twists on this classic style. American IPAs, like our Bowler IPA, often feature more vibrant and intense flavors and aromas thanks to U.S.-grown hops such as Styrian Wolf, Mosaic, Cascade, and Chinook.

The result is a glass of amber perfection with a distinctive bitterness in the finish. Bowler IPA’s aroma is particularly noteworthy, showcasing a bouquet of citrus, floral, pine, and fruity notes, achieved through the addition of Cascade and Mosaic hops using the "dry hopping" method at the end of the brewing process.
